This year the date “Oct. 19” can hold different meanings. A couple of people think it to be just another day on the calendar on the wall, while others believe it is the coming of unstable anticipation—the Homecoming dance.
If you’ve been to homecoming before, you know the routine; I’m not so worried for you guys. But if it is your first homecoming dance this fall, it can be a pretty nerve-wracking experience if you’re not prepared correctly. Here are some helpful tips that I have gathered through experience that will be sure to help you have the night of your life.
Tip #1:
It is the called the “Homecoming Dance”… SO DANCE! If you get to homecoming in your expensive getup and fancy shoes and you are not having fun, it’s probably because you’re not trying to make it fun for yourself. Find a group of your friends and start bustin’ the moves you’ve been practicing in the mirror out on the floor. Maybe, just maybe, if you’re looking that good out there, your crush that sits behind you in 5th hour will come up to you and want to dance with you. Which leads me to my next point…
Tip #2:
If somebody asks you to dance with them, mentally scream “YOLO!” and go for the gold! Go in with complete confidence.
Tip #3:
Bring spare deodorant. You may have heard rumors of how hot, sweaty, and close everybody is out on the dance floor and those rumor are 100 percent true. If you know you have a bad perspiration problem, and that problem turns into a funky smell, then please bring some deodorant. You don’t want to be out there having a good time when all of sudden your stench goes awry. Keep a mini “to go” bottle with you and if you feel like you need to reapply, then go to the bathroom quickly.
Tip #4:
Ladies. I know you love your super high heels but let’s be honest… You can’t dance in those heels without falling and breaking your neck. In order to avoid a trip to the hospital, bring a change of shoes to dance in. Take your pictures in your cute heels and make sure everybody has seen them. Then, don’t be afraid to take them off and change into shoes that are easier to dance in.
Tip #5:
Gentlemen. I understand that it can get extremely hot in your shirts. But please refrain from taking them off. Not only does it make it awkward for everybody else, but the administration will tell everybody who has taken them off to put them back on. So, to avoid an interruption of our non-stop fun, just leave your shirts on.
