“A Star Is Born” is story Hollywood has been retelling for years. The heart-breaking story, no matter the era, follows two lovers: a famous singer (or actor in the 1932 version) headed towards the bottom and woman who is soaring to the top.

In latest and fourth retelling of “A Star Is Born” Bradley Cooper not only plays the lead role, Jackson Maine, an alcoholic and drug addicted singer, but also debuts as director of the film.

“Cinema was the only place where I felt I could excavate and find those personal things inside of me that I wanted to share with people,” Cooper told the Washington Post.

In addition to directing and starring in the film, he also wrote it with the help of Eric Roth and Will Fetter, as well as singing and learning to play guitar for the part.

Cooper didn’t want the movie to be just another love story, he wanted something real. He wanted the film to be as honest as possible and one that many would relate to he told Study Breaks Magazine, a magazine for film and television.

Cooper’s talents are what set the film apart from the three existing versions. The first film came out in 1932 and was titled “What Price Hollywood” and is the story of Constance Bennett, a waitress who dreams of becoming a movie star, and Max Carey, a famous director and alcoholic. And it’s the same story, as she rises he begins to downfall and the same process occurs in 1954 version with Judy Garland and in the 1976 version with Barbra Streisand

In 2018, the rising star is Ally, played by Lady Gaga. Although Lady Gaga was a fantastic actress, the main focus was her singing. In particular, the ending song of the movie “I’ll Never Love Again” brought not only the audience but cast members to tears.

In fact, the official soundtrack for the film opens as the No. 1 spot of the Billboard 200 this week, and the shallow ranking No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The vocals were truly outstanding as well as the acting. Lady Gaga has acted before in a few television series, such as American Horror Story, but is more notorious for singing. She’s great actress, but her true acting abilities showed in the final scene where she dedicated “I’ll Never Love Again” to Jack Maine.

The movie is gorgeous heartbreaker that’ll leave you emotional wreck. It is an absolute must-see.
