The 82nd Golden Globes awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles on Jan. 5. As the first major awards ceremony of the year, the Golden Globes were a premier of the fashion we could see throughout 2025.
Over 100 celebrities, influencers and other public figures walked the red carpet. While there were dozens of dazzling outfits, I narrowed my favorites down to the top five.
- Elle Fanning in Balmain
Fanning wore a champagne ballgown adorned with bold leopard-print rhinestone accents on the bodice. The delicate balance of classic and contemporary was achieved through a thin champagne belt and a leopard-themed Cartier necklace and bracelet set.
The leopard details added a playful edge to the gown’s old-Hollywood silhouette, creating a stunning juxtaposition that felt both modern and classical. As a longtime admirer of red-carpet fashion, I found Fanning’s ensemble to be a refreshing nod to vintage trends reinterpreted for current events.
- Viola Davis in Gucci
Davis’s ensemble was a long black dress sparkled with sequins along the V-neck bodice and featured multicolor tinsel cascading to the hem. To elevate the look further, Davis wore a sheer, train-style capelet adorned with matching tinsel and accessorized with custom Swarovski earrings.
What made this look even more remarkable was its backstory. Davis collaborated with her stylist, Elizabeth Stewart, to reimagine a dress she wore to the LACMA Art + Film Gala in November 2024.
The vibrant tinsel additions transformed the gown into a masterpiece worthy of the Golden Globes. Davis’s ability to bring new life to a previously worn outfit is rare and inspiring in an era of single-use red-carpet fashion. It’s rare to see celebrities repeat outfits, but Davis does so effortlessly.
- Zendaya in Louis Vuitton
Zendaya brought old Hollywood glam to life with a contemporary twist in her custom Louis Vuitton satin gown. The burnt orange gown echoed the iconic styles of Marilyn Monroe, with its fitted bodice and flowing silhouette.
Paired with matching shoes and statement jewelry by Bvlgari, Zendaya’s ensemble was perfectly polished. The highlight of her accessories was her engagement ring, which sparked excitement among red carpet photographers, interviewers and fans following her recent engagement to Tom Holland.
Though other attendees, including Pamela Anderson, Janelle James, and Kerry Washington, donned outfits inspired by Marilyn Monroe, Zendaya’s bold color choice and custom design ensured her look stood out as an homage rather than a costume.
- Eddie Redmayne in Valentino
Male celebrities often opt for understated looks on the red carpet, but Eddie Redmayne broke the mold with his bold Valentino suit. The black suit set featured a white geometric pattern, paired with a white popped-collar button-up.
Redmayne’s ensemble was perfect balance between elegance and innovation, showcasing how men’s fashion can be captivating on the red carpet. His choice to embrace a unique design demonstrated his willingness to push boundaries while maintaining red-carpet charm.
- Demi Moore in Armani Prive
Moore’s dress was an interesting style, but she wore it flawlessly. The asymmetrical style gown was soft bronze with silver rhinestone accents that coordinated with her Cartier jewelry.
The gown’s structured, shimmering fabric created a statuesque effect, making Moore look as though she were gliding effortlessly across the carpet. The ensemble was both bold and timeless.
The 82nd Golden Globes brought together a fusion of bold statements and classic glamour, setting the tone for the 2025 awards season. From reimagined vintage styles to sparkling modern designs, the evening was a celebration of fashion as an art form.
I hope the creativity and elegance displayed at the Golden Globes continue to inspire trends across red carpets and beyond. If this event is any indication, 2025 promises to be a year of unforgettable fashion.
