All of this cold weather and freezing temperatures can certainly put a damper on ones plans. Hopefully Edwardsville High School students can get a little spring fever from a new tradition being set by Student Council.
Student Council has decided to add another exciting activity to this year’s festivities. Another school dance.
“We are hoping this dance becomes a staple at our high school and continues for years to come,” senior student council member Maggie Perkins said.
The dance was to originally be held on March 20, but has now been postponed to March 21 and is to be held from 7-10 p.m. The ticket fee will be $5 and going on sale very soon, according to senior student council member Stephanie Gaytan.
Unlike Homecoming or Prom, this dance is to be more casual and not as dressy or fancy. “It’s a more casual dance so nobody has to blow a lot of money on what they’re going to wear for this one,” Gaytan said.
This dance will also be Sadie Hawkins inspired, in which case the girls ask the guys. “It’s being called a spring dance but yes we would call it a Sadie Hawkins type of dance,” Gaytan said. “This would not be required and you don’t have to bring a date to come by any means.” Because this event is so new, response from the school is debatable. However, Student Council is confident.
“I am hoping for a large turnout and from what I’ve heard, a lot of people are excited about the Sadie Hawkins aspect,” Perkins said.
