Social media has begun to pull everyone under its spell. Twitter apps are constantly being opened so that everyone knows the latest news on everyone and everything. Every now and then, you catch an annoying tweet or two. Sometimes a person’s tweets are consistently annoying, which can be annoying in and of itself. Here are a few tips that anyone, myself included, could stand to follow.
Don’t live-tweet a TV show
I get it, you’re really hyped about American Horror Story. Most people are. A few comments here and there are all right, especially if they’re funny, but I don’t need to see the entire plot of the episode through your tweets. You could be ruining the episode for someone that hasn’t seen it yet.
Put an end to subtweeting
Subtweeting just causes drama, which is the desired effect. If you deny this, you’re lying. Get over yourself. Relax. Go bake some cookies. Move on with your life.
Stop retweeting song lyrics
One or two lyrics, okay. Any more than that is a bit excessive. I’m glad you really enjoy Set It Off, but I’d rather my timeline not be constantly overflowing with their lyrics. Get some creativity. Come up with something yourself.
Stop asking for attention
I get it, you’re sad. If I take a look back at your tweets, it shows that you were sad yesterday, the day before that and every day this month. Nothing good is going to happen from only tweeting about how sad you are every day. Twitter isn’t the place to advertise your sadness. I’m going to roll my eyes and ignore each tweet if you only ever tweet to let everyone know that you’re sad.
“Retweet in 15 seconds or…”
Literally nothing is going to happen to you if you don’t retweet some dumb thing someone made up. If I don’t retweet this picture of a pencil, I’m going to fail all of my classes? I’m not so sure about that. Are we back in seventh grade?
