This year, the Tiger Den staff has added 5 new items to their menu. Hoping to offer more nutritional value, Tiger Den has included two different flavors of overnight oats and three flavors of egg bites.
Tiger Den is a popular attraction. And this year, Tiger Den manager Mrs. Magruder is excited to share the new additions to the menu.
“We wanted to add something a little bit higher protein [that] satiates you for a little longer,” Magruder said.
I ranked the five new treats to encourage students to try them out. It can be difficult to stray away from the things you know and love, but take my word for it when I say all new items were a hit.
5. Cheese egg bites
Priced at $1, the Cheese Egg Bites are a good morning snack. While they aren’t too filling, they provide protein and nutritional value to start off the morning. Still, the last spot rank isn’t eggs-actly where you’d want to land. I would have liked to see the meatless breakfast choice include a more complex flavor and ingredient list, possibly including spinach or another cheese.
4. Bacon egg bites
These bacon-filled bite delights are like the cheese alternative. However, this item includes bacon to add caloric value. Magruder encourages the menu items with higher protein because they differs from the many sweet options Tiger Den offers. The $1 Bacon Egg Bites present an interesting flavor, earning them a higher ranking than the cheese ones.
3. Peach cobbler overnight oats
The compelling flavor of this oat dish did not disappoint, earning it a third-place ranking. The Peach Cobbler Overnight Oats were filling, containing pieces of fruit and offering a variety of flavors. Hints of cinnamon and juicy peaches amplified the oatmeal. While the oatmeal was good, it wasn’t the best of the new items. The Peach Cobbler Overnight Oats were overly-sweet and did not compare to their sister flavor.
2. Sausage egg bites
Presenting an undeniably yummy flavor profile, the Sausage Egg Bites were more than eggs-ellent. Without being too salty, the flavors work together. Because of the added sausage, this menu choice provides sustainable energy and nutrients. These $1 egg bites are a reasonable price for a nutritious breakfast choice.
1. Strawberry overnight oats
Strawberry Shortcake Overnight Oats take the cake in the contest for best new Tiger Den menu item. Containing real strawberry chunks, this morning treat should hold you over until lunch. These oats aren’t too sweet and prove helpful in controlling blood sugar. At $2, the Strawberry Shortcake Overnight Oats are worth every cent and earn the first-place spot in my ranking.
