Patricia Lowe is one of seven candidates running for three seats on District 7’s School Board from inside the largest Edwardsville Township in the 2025 Consolidated Madison County elections.
Lowe is a nurse and is running for the school board because she’s a very active parent, and “just like other parents, I have some of the same concerns.”
“As a parent myself, I understand. The success of every student is very important to me, just like it was for my child,” she said. “It takes progress, but really being there for the parents in the teachers and the staff, to me, is very important.”
If elected, Lowe says health and wellness are the biggest priorities for her. She wants to ensure that every student is mentally focused, with counselors playing a significant role in that.
“Mental health is a very big issue,” she said. “With COVID-19, students was home for two years, and they had to be acclimated back into the environment, and sometimes they might not know how to do that. As a nurse, that could be some issues that could arise within that student that the school is not aware of.”
Lowe’s view on changing the school start times and class schedules — which was the most prevalent issue among polled EHS students — is that they shouldn’t be changed for high schoolers because they’re responsible enough for it.
“High school students, that’s what they’re kind of used to,” she said. “Those early mornings with the high school are preparing them for the workforce, at those hours too. So, I don’t think it should change for the high school.”
Overall, Lowe says that she wants to be there for the community to listen and hear what their concerns are and understand everybody’s different positions because she says “What concerns you concerns me.”
