Go. Fight. Roar. On April 3, the boys’ volleyball team defeated rivals, the O’Fallon Panthers in three games.
“It was a very exciting and thrilling game. We played our best game of the season so far and we did a lot of things correct,” junior outside hitter Will Frank said. “Our hitters did a nice job of hitting around the big double block of O’Fallon, our passing was good and our serving was awesome.”
Frank finished the night with three aces and 11 kills.
During the first game, senior middle blocker James Sauermann went down with an injury, but the Tigers completed the game with a close score of 25-22.
“We came out playing hard and never stopped trying, even after James got hurt, we kept fighting,” junior libero Joey Brammeier said. Brammeier was able to dig 11 hits from the O’Fallon hitters.
After Sauermann suffered the ankle injury, senior Adam McLean was put into the middle position, although he has never practiced that position before.
The Tigers went into the second game confident, but lost to the Panthers 10-25.
Sophomore Mike Horton, who had in the previous games been a setter in the front row, became the other middle blocker and had three kills.
EHS boys’ volleyball won the last game 25-18 and won the match against the O’Fallon Panthers. Junior setter Jake Vandever also had a total of 28 assists.
“Everyone is looking forward to the rest of the season, we have a lot of big matches coming up and the O’Fallon victory boosted our confidence,” senior right side Brandon Davis said. “We are starting to come together as a team and becoming more motivated as our season continues.”
Davis completed the match with two aces and 11 kills.
