After the senior class left school on Tuesday afternoon, the juniors were left with nearly empty classrooms the next day. Many juniors had the option to take their finals early, but what does that leave for the juniors to do? What does that leave the juniors thinking?
“I kind of feel accomplished. The fact that we’re still here and not skipping means we’re good students,” junior Samantha Greytak said.
Greytak has a few classes that were previously predominantly seniors such as AP Chemistry and Honors English Literature. She finds the extra time pretty enjoyable especially with her having a rigorous schedule of honors and advanced placement courses.
“I feel like we get to grow closer with our teachers because [yesterday] we talked about ‘Sex and the City,’” Greytak said.
Mrs. Charlene Staden discussed some classical literature and a few television shows in her Honors English Literature class with three remaining juniors. This is Mrs. Staden’s last year at EHS. She decided to “graduate with the class of 2013.” She says that she is has a blast with the seniors, but others do not feel the same.
Junior James Bannon feels “quite relieved” with the seniors gone.
“With the seniors gone, it was nice and quiet,” Bannon said.
Both Gretak and Bannon are looking forward to their own senior years with new experiences and new classes. But for the time being, they take advantage of their free time and study.
“I actually kind of like it. It takes the stress out of the day,” Bannon said.
