Suzuki Strings Program Takes on Fall Festival
September 17, 2015
Members of the Suzuki Strings program showcased their skills at last weekend’s Fall Fest.
The festival, held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, featured performances from baton twirlers to a children’s magic show.
“I’ve always enjoyed the variety of acts here,” senior Tom Webb said.
Suzuki Strings, a program dedicated to teaching kids ages 3-18 string instruments, gave an hour-long performance, featuring a multitude of songs.
“[We] had practiced the pieces many times over the last two years,” senior Henry Lu said. “However, we practiced one last time right before the festival.”
Senior and self-proclaimed “Suzuki-child” James Longos has played with the program for fourteen years.
“It feels awesome to get out there and do what I love.”
Longos led a song-and-dance rendition of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. “It’s a special song for the kids to learn,” he said. “I just happened to remember it, so I led it.”
Students who attended the festival continue to show praise for the performance.
“It was really exciting seeing fellow students performing at the Fall Fest,” senior Nina Weatherly said. “It is always cool seeing the performing arts play in the community.”
